Vista Cursors on Windows XP

Get the new Windows Vista cursors from Build 5465 on your Windows XP machine.  There are just a few aesthetic differences.  The new cursors are antialiased and have a crisp look to them.  The hourglass cursor is replaced with the loading indicator.  I’ve included some screenshots of the cursors below.

I'm using them now as well. They look really good, but the Text Selection cursor seems a little wide; however, I haven't really found it to be a problem because most of the time I'm just trying to select one or mroe whole words, which most editors will do these days, even if you "miss".

Thank you very much. *cursors are small thing to many, but using the pc alot the clunky cursor of xp seems a bit out of place.

I really don't understand why everyone wants to emulate Vista so badly... Almost everything about Vista slows down your computer! I like to stick to XP with only the bare minimum (Black Royal Noir theme, and shadows under the cursor and stuff). I even turn off the sounds! I just can't bring myself to intentionally sacrifice speed and performance for pretty colors, shiny cursors, etc. Heck, I even find myself going through processes in Task Manager to turn off everything I don't need so that my games run as fast as possible. I fear the day that they turn off updates to XP and I have to switch over to *shudder* Vista. I'd rather go to Linux if I didn't have to edit the operating system every time it didn't boot right or something.

Better off either using the free version of cursor xp or the bought version from stardock,for $10.00 it's well worth it,there's 100's of member made free cursors some animated some not,the bought version of cursor xp can make them transparent,resize to whatever size you want,change colour etc or make your own,i've used it for the last two years it's great if you like to match themes

Looks great. However, the set is missing a cursor for when you're dragging/copying a file from one location to the other ... you know, the one with the PLUS (+) symbol for when you hold the CTRL key down.

Yeah, I have to agree with gaurang that not being able to see the square & plus sign icon or the shortcut icons for the drag and drop commands is a real downer. The cursors look nice otherwise. I can not tell what is going to happen when I drop my files. The situation changes and sometimes the same combination of Shift, Ctrl or Alt and dropping does a different operation depending on the situation.

Let me see how long I last until I go back to the default cursors again. :)

the cursor does not do the animation everytime after I reboot my computer, I have to go to pointer option in control panel everytime i want to make the cursor animate. Does anyone know how to fix this problem? Any help is very much appreciated. Thanks!

Nevermind. I figured it out. It was because of my Dell Quickset. Once I uninstalled the software, it worked just fine.

Inarma,

I am not sure whether or not you have done this, but this s how I got mine to work:

1) right click on the file "Install.inf"
2) select "intall"
3) go to Control Panel > mouse
4) go to pointer tab
5) change the scheme to 'aero cusors'

hope this helps.
